| What is a credit
record |
| |
|
Three major credit bureaus track your credit record: TransUnion®,
Equifax® and Experian®.
These companies collect information about your payment history to lenders for
such accounts as charge cards, credit cards, auto loans, student loans,
apartment rentals, mortgage payments, and even utilities. Your credit record
also contains any public record information contained in state and county court
records, such as bankruptcy, tax liens, and monetary judgments. Your credit
record is used by lenders to calculate your credit score.
